Comedy Improv Night Jan. 26 hosted by RLC Thespians

Get ready for laughs at the Rend Lake College Thespians’ annual Night of Comedy improvisation show later this month. The popular event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in the RLC Theatre.

Similar to the television show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” with games and audience participation, the Night of Comedy serves as a workshop for RLC theatre students and as a free, family-friendly event for the community. Audience participation is a must as Thespians will ask for ideas, lines to say, and even for the audience get up on stage with the troupe and perform. The show should last approximately one hour.

The event has been held for more than a decade at RLC and is a favorite for local junior high and high school students interested in the performing arts. The Thespian Troupe itself began in 2002 as a club for students to practice their comedic skills. They work on these skills throughout the semester at meetings, as well as at local events, schools, nursing homes, and hospitals.
