The White County Sheriff’s Department took a report of a theft on Tuesday morning. At 10:30 am Sheila Turrentine reported that sometime in the last couple of weeks, someone entered a house she owns at 751 County Road 100N and took several Xbox 360 games. There was no forced entry into the home.
Sheriff’s deputies and the Norris City Police Department arrested 31 year old Adam Joseph Cather of Peyton, Colorado Tuesday morning after a pursuit. A call to 911 advised deputies of an erratic driver on US 45 south of Norris City just before 11am, and the caller followed the jeep to the Bi Petro property, where the driver, later identified as Cather exited the vehicle and entered a wooded area south of the property.
As officers were trying to locate Cather, he re-entered the jeep and left the scene. Deputies searched for the vehicle and located it abandoned again at 389 County Road 750N. Cather was found walking down the driveway at that location and surrendered without incident. Cather informed arresting officers that he was wanted on a warrant from Colorado for failure to appear on a dangerous drugs charge.
Cather is being held without bail at the White County Jail awaiting extradition to his home state.
