A Carrier Mills man was hospitalized Friday morning after he struck a train.
According to a press release from Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown, 39 year old Candaso Murphy was attempting to cross the tracks at Harco Road two miles west of Galatia, when at 3:45 am Friday, he struck the train in its side.
Murphy’s van was dragged a few feet by the Canadian National train before coming to a stop. The coal carrying train took a full two miles before it could make a full stop.
Murphy was transported to the Harrisburg Medical Center with minor injuries. No one on the train was injured. Murphy has been cited for failure to yield at a train crossing.
Saline County EMS and Winter’s Towing assisted the Saline County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
