Saturday night at the American Legion in Carmi, the Carmi Rotary club hosted their fall trivia contest. This is the 20th trivia event put on by the local club, and as always, was a fun night and a good fundraiser for the group.
First Place – Piopolis Polecats: Eric Rawls, Aaron Rawls, Karen Karcher, Mike Karcher
There were four rounds of ten questions each, and this year one team took an early lead and never looked back. The “Pio Polecats”, a team based out of Piopolis, Il. won for the second time, putting together a very impressive 310 points on their way to victory. Just for reference, a perfect score would be 500 points.
Second Place – The Outsiders: Lyn Stephens, Kent Armstrong, Sarah Lewis Johnston, Jeff Lewis
Second place went to a team known as the “Outsiders” who put together 285 points for the night. Third place went to the team that has won the event many times, the “Junior-Senior Allstars”, who amassed 255 points.
Third Place – Junior Seniors; Jo Allen, Cindy Conley, Ray Martin, Kenneth Dwain Harrelson
Eleven teams took part in the event. There was plenty of food and drinks on hand, and a large crowd of spectators watched and probably got every answer right!
The next trivia contest will be held on Saturday, March 11th.
The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this worldwide civic club is more than welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
