At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, Cindy Conley discussed other things going on at Corn Day. She told the club about meeting several out of town residents at the White County Historical Society house on Robinson Street. One of the things that caught her fancy was the Memorial Day Parade. Several people asked if it was still going on. Only Henry Lewis and Don Drone of the club remembered the parade. They thought that it was probably in the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Discussion also centered on the Old Cemetery. Several people remember the reenactments put on a few years ago and wondered if they would be performed again. Cindy also discussed with the club the upcoming eclipse to be centered at Carbondale in 2017. Huge crowds are expected for a 2 minute event.
In club business, the fall Trivia contest will be held on Saturday, November 5th at the American Legion. The first question will be asked shortly after 6:00 PM. The cost will be $40 for a four person team.
Henry Lewis was named the phantom. Cindy Conley won the honor of selecting the pink ball in the 50/50 drawing but did not so the pot rolls over. Andy Williams and Little Giant prepared a delicious meal.
The club meets at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Anyone wishing to get involved is encouraged to come help Rotary with the many local projects and charities that are supported.
