Pre-K Screenings for Carmi White County School age children from birth to 5 years old who aren’t enrolled and won’t be kindergarten eligible in the coming school year are coming up. The screenings check each child’s progress in hearing, vision, speech, language, and coordination skills giving parents an idea of how their child is progressing. The screenings are free and parents receive immediate feedback. April 29th and 30th, screenings will be held at the Trinity Assembly of God in Carmi from 8:30 to 3. It’s a free service and takes about 45 minutes. Appointments are required. Call 382 – 4631 to make an appointment or get additional details.
In addition, Pre-Registration for children who will begin kindergarten in the fall is coming up. Kids who are 5 years old on or before September 1st are eligible to start school and the pre registration portal will be open from Monday, May 3rd through Friday, May 14th. Visit the district website at www.carmischools.org and click on the registration link to begin. If you have any questions during the process, you can call Lincoln School at 384 – 3421 between the hours of 8am and 3:30pm. The information gathered helps provide the school district with an idea of how many students to expect in the fall which helps the district prepare supplies, finalize staffing plans, and prepare bus routes for the school year. If you have a child that’s Kindergarten eligible in the fall and isn’t attending CWC Pre-K, Stair Step, or Joyful Start should contact the school office to set up an individual appointment during May.
