Carmi Police Take More Meth Off the Streets

Note:  An earlier version of the below story stated Starnes and Voliva were arrested on meth related charges rather than controlled substance and cannabis.  WROY/WRUL News has updated the story and regrets the error.

Carmi Police were busy early Wednesday morning as a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two Carmi women on drug related charges.

Angela G. Starnes, 39 and 24 year old Billie Jean Voliva, both of 607 Sycamore Street were arrested after they were stopped shortly after midnight this Wednesday morning in the 600 block of Stewart Street.

Starnes was charged with controlled substance trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, more than 10 grams, possession of cannabis, less than 10 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Voliva is facing charges of controlled substance trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, more than 10 grams, possession of cannabis, less than 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both remained in custody early Wednesday morning.

 

Tuesday afternoon, local police arrested Robert Anthony Belka, 29 of 814 N. Fifth street, Carmi.

Belka was arrested at Pundrake Convenience Store. He was known to be wanted on several outstanding White County warrants, including one felony warrant.

He was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis, less than 10 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Belka’s combined bonds were over $5500 and he remained in custody Wednesday morning.

 

Carmi Police also arrested Donald E. Stover, 44 of 403 East Cherry Street, Carmi on an outstanding warrant for criminal trespass to property. Stover posted $150 cash bond plus a $20 booking fee and was released from custody following his arrest shortly after 7 Tuesday night.
