Carmi Police make two arrests Thursday

Just after 8 am Thursday, Illinois Department of Corrections Parole agents conducted a search of the residence of 31 year old Jason Ballard on Seventh Street in Carmi.  During the search, agents discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected cannabis in a bedroom.  A further search by Carmi Police discovered more cannabis and methamphetamine related paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.  Ballard was not at the residence at the time, but police did arrest 20 year old Haley Smith, who also lives in the residence, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Smith was transported to the White County Jail, and was later released after posting a $4000 bond. Police continue to look into Ballard’s whereabouts.

At 5:30 pm Thursday, Carmi officers arrested 49 year old Todd Hubbard of Carmi on a charge of violating an order of protection.  Hubbard was taken into custody at a residence on Smith Street and transported to the White County Jail, where he is being held without bond pending a court hearing.
