Carmi Police make DUI arrest early Wednesday morning


A Fairfield man surrendered on a White County warrant to Carmi Police Tuesday afternoon.  57 year old Jeffrey S Sanders turned himself in at the Police station just after 2:30 pm to answer charges of criminal trespass to a residence, criminal damage to property, and theft.  Sanders is being held at the White County Jail in lieu of a $1000 bond.


A Carmi man was struck by a car while crossing the street Tuesday evening.  At 6:17 pm, Carmi Police responded to the intersection of Fifth and Stewart Streets, where 47 year old Billy Taylor was struck by a vehicle driven by 62 year old Paula Madamma of Carmi.  Madamma told officers that she was distracted by on-coming headlights, and did not see Taylor.  Both parties refused medical treatment at the scene.



Just after midnight Wednesday morning, 29 year old Cameron Phillips of Crossville was arrested for DUI after a traffic stop at the intersection of Main and Church Streets.  In addition Phillips received citations for possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Phillips was transported to the White County Jail and later released after posting a $100 bond.
