Carmi Police arrested 45 year old Billy Newman of Carmi Monday evening following a traffic stop. Just after 5 pm, Newman was stopped at the intersection of 4th and Stewart Streets and taken into custody on a charge of driving on a suspended license. Newman was released from the scene after posting a $150 cash bond. Carmi officers were assisted at the scene by S&E Towing and Illinois State Police.
