The Carmi Police Department arrested two drunk drivers early Thursday morning in separate incidents.
Just after midnight, officers pulled over 31 year old Heather Duke of Carmi at the intersection of Main and 9th Streets and arrested her for DUI. In addition, Duke was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Duke was transported to the White County Jail, and was later released after posting a $100 bond.
Just after 1 am, 37 year old Joseph Desper of Mt. Vernon, IL was pulled over on 3rd Street and was arrested for DUI. Desper was also charged with illegal transportation of alcohol. Desper was taken to the White County Jail, and was later released on a $100 bond.
