Carmi Men Facing Drug Charges After Home Search

CARMI MEN FACING DRUG CHARGES AFTER HOME SEARCH

CARMI, IL — Two Carmi men are facing drug charges after Carmi Police conducted a search at a home located at 800 Smith St. Friday.

During the search, a large amount of methamphetamine was found as well as drug paraphernalia, syringes, scales, baggies, cannabis and cannabis paraphernalia.

Police arrested and charged 59-year-old Charles E. Newman and 43-year-old Kenneth P. Brown with possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of hypodermic syringes. Brown was also charged with unlawful use of property. Both men were taken to the White County Jail.

Brown and Newman made their initial court appearance Monday in White County Court. Their preliminary and bond hearing was set for April 24 at 10 a.m. Brown’s bond was set at $50,000. Newman’s bond was set at $100,000.

Police say more charges are possible to follow.
