November 9th, 2015, three New York men with a history in long term healthcare purchased what is now proudly Carmi Manor on Webb Street in Carmi. Fast forward five months later, winter has been replaced with spring and so goes the formal rebirth of Carmi Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Marketing Director Tami Jackson addressed Kiwanis and two of the three new owners including Baruch and Charles were on hand for the Grand Opening Monday afternoon.
One of the owners is the administrator of a long term facility in New York. The other two, as explained by Jackson, are more involved in therapy and the rehabilitation side. The three of them together also have a management company which helps facilitate more than 75 long term care facilities on the east coast. As Jackson says, that’s where the corporate side stops however.
“Carmi Manor stands alone. We have no sister homes, but because of their experience and the companies the owners are involved in together, Carmi Manor has some advantages they never had before.”
The 74 bed facility offers a full array of rehabilitation and long term care services including rehab and nursing, dietary and nutrition support and recreational activities.
In January of 2015, when new administration including Henry McGill as administrator took over, the census for the facility (Phoenix at the time) was at 13, says Jackson. Currently, Carmi Manor is caring for 44 residents.
Baruch addressed the dozens in attendance for the Ribbon Cutting and Open House saying:
“This is our first foray into the Midwest market and it’s been an interesting transition. The warm reception we’ve received from residents, businesses and the leadership of Carmi as well as the staff here have made it a very pleasant experience. We have a drive and passion for healthcare and for this facility in particular. We’re committed to seeing it succeed and together with the wonderful staff here and together with the partnerships we’re forming out in the community, we’re very confident we’ll see that success and we’re looking forward to doing that with you. We want to bring you the highest level of healthcare…something that I think the community deserves and has come to expect. We want you to think of Carmi Manor when you think of that.”
