In White County Court Monday afternoon, Judge T. Scott Webb sentenced 28 year old Nickolas Hays of Carmi to five years in Illinois Department of Corrections custody on a charge of aggravated battery. 
According to States Attorney Denton Aud, Hays had been on probation for the charge, but following his arrest by Carmi Police November 3 following an incident at the Carmi Public Library, that sentence was revoked. Hays was also ordered to pay all previously ordered fines, fees, costs, and assessments and will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following incarceration.
