The White County Sheriff’s Department took a report of a battery that occurred in Crossville early Thursday morning. At 2:18 am, deputies responded to a call about a pickup with Kentucky plates driving in a suspicious manner from Sheena Garrett. Garrett told deputies that a man in a hooded sweatshirt hit her in the head with an unknown object and possible fled in the truck driven by an unknown female. Garrett named a possible suspect, but officers could not locate him, or the vehicle.
At 9:18 am Thursday, Billy Ward reported that a burglary had occurred at a barn he owns in rural Enfield. Ward said that the burglary had occurred Wednesday or early Thursday. A list of items stolen from the property is being made.
A Carmi man was arrested Thursday night after it was reported that he stole a cell phone in Crossville. At 7:18 pm, Sheriff’s deputies received a call that an unknown white male arrived at a home in Crossville and was acting strangely. After asking for a phone to call someone, the subject, later identified as 38 year old Christopher Swango, drove away with the phone. The caller stated that Swango was attempting to sell several items from his vehicle, including alcohol and drugs. The caller provided officers with a description of the vehicle Swango was driving along with the license plate number.
