Carmi League of Arts offering Mike Greene Memorial scholarship

Mike 1

The Mike Greene scholarship was created at Mike’s passing in 1994.  Mike was 36 years old.  He was a valuable part of the arts culture in this community for many years. He was a talented visual artist, a great actor, a fantastic stage presence, an amazing singer and just a superb musician in general. Mike lent his musical abilities to numerous CWCHS and League of Arts productions and  was very gifted. He graduated from CWCHS and Southeast Missouri State University.  His degree was in music education.

At his passing, his parents Bob and Doris Greene created the Mike Greene Scholarship Fund. They wanted other talented students to have the opportunity to further their education.  This Scholarship Fund is awarded annually by the Mike Greene Scholarship committee under the guidance of the Carmi League of Arts.  The $500 scholarship is available to CWCHS graduates who plan to major in art at any college/university. Half of the scholarship is paid at the beginning of the Fall semester. The remainder is paid at the beginning of the second semester if the recipient has remained in school and maintained grades of good standing.

If you or someone you know, plan to major in the arts (music, visual, drama) please see Sherry Passmore, CWCHS Drama Coach, or a CWCHS guidance counselor for an application.
