Summer Golf Scramble, Raffles, and Speaking Event Coming to White County
During the White County Republicans’ recent monthly meeting, precinct committeemen and members at large had a full agenda. The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor and memory of beloved friend and County Chairman Terry Murrow followed by prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. A motion and vote was made to accept Vice-Chair Sam Thomas as Acting-Chairman to serve out the remainder of the term.
There was considerable discussion and final details worked out for the upcoming White Co. GOP Annual Golf Scramble scheduled for June 15th . The big prize is a 2019 GMC truck for Hole In One! Plans are going well, members are looking to fill all the sponsor slots. Tee times are at 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.. Lunch will be provided. Other prizes include First Place for $200, Second Place is $100, Third Place $50. Additional prizes will be $50 for longest drive for men/women/seniors, longest putt, closest putt.
State Representative Darren Bailey is bringing speaker Abby Johnson to Carmi for an event at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 27th . Johnson’s experience as director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas is the basis for the movie, “Unplanned”. The event will be held at Rig Ministries, 215 Industrial Ave. . General admission will be $25. VIP admission is $100 and includes the opportunity to meet and speak with Abby Johnson. A screening of the movie is being discussed as well.
Also discussed at the monthly meeting, a “Trump Gun” raffle. The selection of a raffle gun this year is a limited edition, custom engraved, Ruger 10-22, exclusive President Trump- White County rifle. Drawing for the rifle will take place at Corn Day. Tickets will be available from precinct committeemen and members at large.
Discussions also included plans for the White County Fair, fall festivals, parades, and other possible fundraisers.
