The Carmi-White County wrestling team put together another strong performance on Thursday night, rolling to a 45–31 victory over Harrisburg at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium.
Carmi jumped ahead early as Gage Anderson (106) and Drennan Aud (120) each picked up wins by forfeit, staking the Bulldogs to a quick lead. At 132, Connor Benham delivered the first on-mat victory of the night, securing a first-period pin to make it 18-9.
The Bulldogs continued to build momentum at 144, where Cameron Winter earned a second-period fall, extending the lead to 24–15. Moments later at 150, Jazz Duckworth added another pin, pushing Carmi ahead 30-15.
At 165, Cole Evans secured a second-period victory to widen the margin to 36-21.
One of the night’s most exciting bouts came at 175, where Branson Burnett battled into sudden death and came out on top with a decisive takedown, giving Carmi a commanding 39-21 advantage.
Senior Nolan Aud sealed the team win at 190, earning a first-period pin to push the Bulldogs to a 45–21.
The Purple Dogs would win the final two matches to make the final score 45-31.
In exhibition action, freshmen Evan Rush and Jaxon Flowers each recorded first-period pins to cap off a strong night for the program.
With the victory, Carmi-White County improves to 2–1 on the season. The Bulldogs will travel to compete in the Lawrenceville Tournament on Saturday.
