City of Carmi Water Plant Operator Van Scott tells WROY/WRUL News a regional broadband internet service provider hit a water main earlier today. Due to that water main break, at the corner of Burrell and Oak, the city has issued a Boil Water order for all Carmi water customers west of 12th Street to 1716 Oak Street until further notice. The boil order also includes residents in Sunnybrook Meadows. While you can’t drink the water straight out of the tap, you probably have internet, so you can find some educational materials available as a resource about the lead risk in drinking water at https://www.cityofcarmi.org/leadriskinformation/.
Stay tuned to WROY/WRUL on air and online for the latest. Scott says they’ll work to get it fixed as soon as possible and will try to have the order lifted by this (Memorial Day) weekend.
