Bike Theft Alert
Carmi Chief of Police Jason Carter reported bicycle thefts have been on the rise lately, explaining that many of the stolen bikes have not been registered with the police department.
Chief Carter explained registering bikes was started a number of years ago to assist in combating bike thefts and helping to return the bicycles to their rightful owners.
The cost is $1 per bike and if they have already been registered and you are transferring ownership it doesn’t cost anything.
With the $1, the police department will register your bicycle with its serial number , as well as you name, address and phone number. Authorities will then install a small registration sticker on our bike.
