Bicentennial Celebration MOVED TO CARMI HIGH SCHOOL; Fireworks on July 4th

The Independence Day holiday will bring much activity to Carmi. The City of Carmi is hosting a Bicentennial Celebration on July 4th. Due to the weather forecast, the celebration is being moved to Carmi High School. Doors will open at 3pm. At 4pm, The Bradshaw’s will perform. At 5:30pm A Band Called River will perform, featuring the talent of Carmi native Barry Steed.

The Green Onion (featuring their bbq nachos) and Tropical Sno will being offering food beginning at 1pm in the Carmi High School Parking lot. Food will not be allowed in the school but tables will be set up in the parking lot.

Also available during the celebration will be t-shirts that are being sold to help raise money for an amphitheater at Burrell’s Woods. Bicentennial bracelets will also be available for $5.

The Carmi Chamber of Commerce is once again partnering with the City of Carmi and area businesses and individuals for the annual fireworks show which will begin at 9 pm at the White County Fairgrounds. Once again, synchronized patriotic music will be broadcast on WRUL. The Chamber is also accepting donations toward the $12,000 display. The Chamber still welcomes donations towards the display.

Carmi Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Holly Healy noted, “Carmi has several wonderful opportunities to enjoy the Independence Day holiday. The Chamber of Commerce urges you to take advantage of the opportunities right here at home.”
