Help Wanted: City of Carmi Assistant Animal Control Officer

The City of Carmi is seeking an Assistant Animal Control Officer.

Applicants must be able to:

-Work when the Animal Control Officer is unavailable during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm, excluding holidays) and report to the Animal Control Officer

-Follow and enforce City Ordinances regulating the control of canines within the City of Carmi

-Clean the City Pound when on duty

-Care for dogs held in the City Pound, including but not limited to feeding and watering daily, when on duty and transporting for veterinary care when needed

-Pick-up dead animals on busy roadways when on duty

Applicants, when on duty, should be available to respond to call between the hours of 7am-3pm Monday- Friday, excluding holidays. Applicants are expected to answer calls after hours from dispatch only regarding bites and other potential emergency situations or police needing assistance. All vet visits, adoptions and rescue transports will be handled during regular hours.

Living within or near the City of Carmi is preferred. This is a position that pays per day of coverage.
