While the courts await a mental fitness evaluation on a woman charged with concealment of a deceased person charge, we do now know the results of the autopsy ordered. Nancy Fowler was found deceased after a wellness check a month ago in a home on Shipley Street in Carmi. The welfare check was requested by a post office employee after they said they hadn’t seen Fowler in more than a month. Fowler’s daughter Dawn was subsequently arrested and charged preliminarily with concealing the death of an individual, Forgery, and Obstruction of Justice. The court would then doubt the 59-year-old’s mental fitness and has ordered an examination. The state filed that motion on May 13th. A Failure to Comply/Failure to Appear notice is due on June 15th. The autopsy revealed Nancy Fowler died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.
