Back on August 19, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana regarding an alleged criminal sexual assault.
An arrest warrant was issued for 42-year-old Qunicy Franklin of Keensburg, Illinois, for criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
On Wednesday, police obtained a search warrant in connection with the investigation. Around 2 pm, members of the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System, and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team served the warrant on Franklin.
Officers quickly placed Franklin into custody, and the search provided evidence related to the investigation.
Franklin was denied release from jail, and the investigation remains ongoing.
