McFarland Takes Plea Deal; To Serve 2 Years Probation with 11 Other Charges Dismissed

A Grayville man who Carmi Police say they had to chase down on Abelson Drive in Carmi in May of 2025 and then followed that up with another arrest just over a month later with 14 more initial charges agreed to a plea deal that will see him serve two years of probation Thursday.  Now 30-year-old James McFarland agreed to the deal in White County court negotiated by his attorney Jonathan Turpin.  McFarland took guilty pleas on the charges of Possession of Meth on both the May and June of 2025 arrests and will serve 24 months of probation.  He was also fined and given a 6-month stayed jail sentence.  The remaining charges including Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding, Being a Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Driving on a Revoked License were all dismissed.
