A Norris City man pled out in White County court Thursday. 49-year-old Michael Ellison was facing a charge of writing bad checks that dates back to June of 2024 and also a March of this year charge of Obstructing Justice by destroying evidence. The plea deal reached Thursday resulted in a conviction of the Bad Checks charge while the Obstruction of Justice charge was dismissed. Ellison received two years of conditional discharge; he was fined $250, and also ordered to pay $100.84 in restitution to Doug’s Food Mart.
Also Thursday, White County Judge T. Scott Webb denied Gregory Burchfield’s request to reconsider or reduce his sentence. Burchfield was sentenced to three years in a Department of Corrections facility back in February. He was found guilty in December of 2025 on a charge of Attempting to Foil/Defeat a Drug Screening Test.
Another final pre-trial has been set for Chris Rogers. The 56-year-old is facing felony charges of Aggravated DUI along with Driving on a Revoked License, Speeding, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, and Improper Lane Usage that date back to November of 2024. A new final pre-trial date has been scheduled for April 20th and a jury trial is expected to begin the following day.
