Bertram and Owen Picked up on Warrant Arrests Tuesday

A Red Bud woman is behind bars in the White County Jail after Carmi Police spotted her on Cherry Street Tuesday evening.  It was just after 6pm when an officer pulled over 65-year-old Pamala Owen for improper signaling.  Owen was subsequently placed under arrest on a Failure to Appear warrant.  That dates back to May of 2024 on a conviction of Driving with an Expired License of more than a year.  She was given supervision in June of 2024 on that charge and fined.  She then failed to appear four times after that resulting in the warrant issuance.  She’s expected to appear in court today (Wednesday).

Earlier in the day, Carmi Police arrested 46-year-old Walter Bertram of Crossville near the intersection of Oak and 4th.  They say he was wanted on a warrant related to an Obstruction of Justice charge that dates back to November 14th.  In addition, officers charged Bertram with Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructing Justice, Fleeing/Eluding, Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.  Carmi Police tried to get Bertram to stop just before 9am while he was riding a bicycle.  He’ll be in White County court for a first appearance Wednesday (today).
