The Southern Illinois Diabetes Awareness Group is excited to announce the upcoming Diabetes Expo 2025. This comprehensive event is dedicated to raising awareness, providing resources, and promoting healthy living for individuals at risk and their families.
Join us on Saturday, October 25th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lions Club located at 1400 South Main Street, Harrisburg, IL 62946. This FREE event is open to everyone in the Southern 16 counties, including those with pre-diabetes, diabetes, family members, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning more about managing and preventing diabetes.
Attendees will have access to a wide array of resources and activities, including:
· Booths from area healthcare providers
· On-site health screenings including blood pressure, BMI, glucose & lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides) for attendees ages 35 – 75 and more! For glucose and lipid panel screenings, fasting is recommended but not required
· Cutting-edge diabetes technology demonstrations by vendors on insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs)
· Informative tables from diabetes organizations such as Breakthrough T1D, Camp BETA, and Southern Illinois Diabetes Awareness Group
· Delicious diabetic friendly snacks prepared by SIU
· Exciting giveaways every 15 minutes, with a grand prize valued at over $300 at 1:00 PM
· Additional attractions include diabetes themed T-shirts, food trucks, walking guides, resource guides, and fitness information
In addition, the event will support another charitable cause by collecting used eyeglasses for the Lions Club.
This event is a perfect opportunity for individuals to gain valuable health information, explore new diabetes management tools, and connect with local healthcare providers and support groups.
