Willett Captured in Wayne County

Willet Captured in Wayne County

Although the details have not been released, Wayne County officials confirmed 32 year old Eric B. Willett is in custody.

Willett and Timothy J. Kerr escaped from a work release detail at the Wood River Correctional Facility late last week. Kerr was captured this past weekend by White County Sheriff Doug Maier and Sgt Craig Poole, after they responded to a report of a man in a field.

Following the apprehension of Kerr, local authorities arrested Tara Keown and Michelle Newman on drug charges after Poole stopped Keown for failing to use her turn signal. Keown name had come up in the search for Willett and Kerr.

Throughout the earlier part of this week, the sheriff’s department and Enfield authorities continued searching in the Enfield area for Willett, who apparently had left the area, as the sheriff’s office indicated they had exhausted the search in Enfield. Sheriff Maier indicated five homes in Enfield were searched without success.

The search continued as the U.S. Marshals moved the investigation into Wayne County.

Again, details of the arrest have not been released at this time, other than confirmation Willett is in custody.

Willett was serving a five year sentence for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm. He was considered dangerous as he had a history of aggravated battery.
