White County Fair moves up two weeks this year

Traditionally the first week in August, unforeseen circumstances will force the White County Fair up two weeks.

The 139th annual Fair will kick off on Monday, July 17th and wrap up on the 22nd.  The move will place the Carmi fair in between the Wayne County and Edwards County fairs, which start on the 10th and 24th respectively.

The fair had to be moved due to the carnival not being available for 2017 on the traditional date.  Brady Amusements contracted with an event in Marshall and was therefore unavailable to Carmi.  Finding a new “rides” provider meant having to get flexible on the date.

The fair board will meet later this week (Thursday) to firm up the event schedule and finalize some other details.  Stay tuned to WROY/WRUL for additional details as they develop.
