During the Carmi Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner on October 2, 2017, White County CEO Student Hayley Fulkerson was recognized for a saving a life during a recent class tour. Fulkerson was recognized by both the Illinois Sheriff’s Association, represented by Deputy Sheila Headlee, and White County Ambulance Service Director Adam Allen.
Recently, the White County CEO Class was on a tour of The Social House in Carmi. An individual accompanying the class for the tour began experiencing a medical emergency. When it became clear CPR needed to be performed, Fulkerson stepped in performing CPR until the individual was once again breathing on their own. When the paramedics arrived, Fulkerson clearly explained to them what she had done to help the individual.
Fulkerson’s quick thinking and reaction to the situation saved a life. The awards were presented to recognize her for her heroic efforts.
