White County Board names new Ambulance Service Director

The White County Board met for their July meeting on Tuesday night and opened with a moment of silence in honor of the slain Dallas police officers at the request of Board President Wes Trout.

In reports from County officers, interim Ambulance Service Director Adam Allen informed the Board that a deposit of $36,742 had been made since the last meeting.

The Board unanimously approved the renewal of Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance for County employees with no discussion.  The renewal will take place on August 1.

Don Hoffman of Emling and Hoffman was in attendance to discuss his firm’s 2015 audit of the County.  Hoffman told the Board the County was in good shape financially.  He did bring up billing issues at the Ambulance Service and Sheriff’s Department that have already been addressed and resolved.

Randy Frashier, representing the Village of Maunie, asked the Board once again about properties held by the Trustee Program that have fallen into disrepair.  The Board stated that they cannot turn the properties over to the Village, due to the fact that they would lose $450 per property, but Paula Dozier informed Frashier that there is no restriction on the Village to clean up the properties themselves and place a lien on them before auction.  Frashier contended that the Village does not have the funds to do so.  The Board agreed to table the issue until after the next auction in either October or November, when they will re-examine it.

The Board also unanimously approved adding the phrase “not limited too” in regards to who sits on the Emergency Telephone System Board, bringing the County ordinance in line with the State statute.

A 25 minute Executive Session was held in regards to the hiring of a Director of the Ambulance Service.  Following the session, the Board unanimously agreed to remove the interim tag and approved the hiring of Adam Allen to the position.

The Board then adjourned the meeting just before 8pm.  The next meeting will be held at the Courthouse on Tuesday, August 9 at 7pm.
