White County Board approves purchase of new ambulance cots

The White County Board met Tuesday night for their May meeting at the White County Courthouse.

After approval of the April meeting minutes and paying April bills, County Engineer Brian Ray told the Board that several County roads are underwater, and barricades have been put out, but also relayed that several barricades have been stolen, and that some roads that should have barricades do not. Ray also informed the Board that two dump trucks are currently down due to electrical issues, and that they should be replaced at sometime in the near future, along with a pickup.

Ambulance Director Adam Allen reported that his department had a small loss for the month, and had completed 176 runs since the last meeting.  Allen also stated that they now have the ability to run new reports that better break down costs per run, and would have those available at the June meeting.  Allen also stated he was in the process of looking for grants to enable a new ambulance purchase.

EMA Director Jim Totten informed the Board that Maunie would start to flood today.

Board Chairman David Dosher told the Board that he and Ray were working together to fill the role of County Noxious Weed Commissioner as required by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. And the Board passed a resolution from Kelly Fulkerson establishing the annual potential juror list.

The Board then approved unanimously the purchase of two Stryker powered ambulance cots and automated CPR machines for $120,001.08 over a three year period with no interest as discussed at the April meeting. Allen told the Board his projections show that the purchase can be paid off within a year, and that the purchase will save the Ambulance Department $163,000 annually in personnel costs.

Doug Ackerman was appointed to the Board of Review for a two year term, and Gerald York and Adam Allen were appointed to the 9-1-1 Board for four year terms.

The Board agreed to sell property from the Trustee program to Kevin Stucky and Donald D Van Horn.

A 16 minute executive session was held to discuss possible litigation, and the Board adjourned the meeting at 7:38 pm.  The White County Board will next meet on Monday, June 12th, at 9 am at the White County Courthouse.
