Two White County teens die in ATV accident on Saturday

The White County Sheriff’s Department has reported that two White County teens were killed in an ATV accident Saturday.

According to a release from Sheriff Doug Maier, a call was received at 7:54pm that 16 year old Chrishaun Coaliron of Maunie and 15 year old Kaitlyn Gwaltney of Crossville were missing and last seen on a three wheeler between Route 141 and Maunie.  White County deputies and Illinois State Police troopers searched for the missing teens in the area.

At 11:53pm, White County Dispatch received a call that both Coaliron and Gwaltney had been located along with the ATV down a steep ditch.  When deputies arrived, they found both teen deceased at the scene.  It is believed that they missed a turn in the road on County Road 850N at the intersection of County Road 1775 E and that the three wheeler skidded into the ditch.

White County Coroner Chris Marsh was called to the scene and the White County Sheriff’s Department, who is investigating the accident, have requested an ISP Accident Reconstruction Officer for assistance.

The Paying It Forward Forever organization is raising money to assist with associated funeral expenses.
