The board approved two TIF agreements. The first was for the American Legion in the amount of $11,090.05 for upgrades to the electrical and kitchen and the second to Amanda Cannon for improvements to the laundramat for $18,800.
Arlynne Davis from Botsch and Associates was to address the board, but she was under the weather. She will do training with the office staff on chromebooks later this week or next, and appear at next month’s board meeting.
The board approved Mimmo’s request to stay open on Sunday for a Super Bowl party, and serve alcohol with food until 60 minutes after the game ends. Police will be in the area.
Several unoccupied homes have meters still operating even though the owners have moved and can’t be contacted, so the board agreed to write off the utility billing in the amount of $9,758.53. Some of the homes have been vacant since as early at 2014.
A repeater from Novacom will be placed on top of the water tower and pick up a signal and transmit it to Carmi and from Carmi to the village. The cost will be paid by 9-1-1 and the village will only have to pay the monthly electric bill.
The Chamber of Commerce was given permission to hold a 5K Run on Saturday, April 12th, with registration at 9 AM and the Run to start at 10 AM. There will also be a vendor fair and food trucks. The event will be held at the high school.
White County Conservation wants to donate 25 oak trees to the village to be planted along the reservoir, but the board members thought there wasn’t enough room to plant them all. The board decided to table the matter until they can look into it more.
IDOT is making repairs to the Route 1 and Route 45 intersection.
A disposal of outdated records will take place soon.
They will look into hiring part-time office staff.
For about half an hour, the board discussed a potential 25 year ball field agreement with NCOE to play softball at Beatty Field. After much back-and-forth, it was decided to table the issue and discuss it with NCOE.
In the Police Report for January, there were 16 reports written, one arrest, ten traffic stops and warnings, and one citation issued. There also were 48 calls to dispatch for the month.
There was no Animal Control report.
The board adjourned at 8:34 PM and the next Village board meeting will be on March 3rd at 7 PM.
