The Pope County Sheriff’s Department has recovered two ATV’s reported stolen in White County earlier this year according to Sheriff Doug Maier.
Pope County deputies responded to a call over the weekend and discovered a 2004 Polaris 400 Sport that was reported stolen by Stanley Austin on March 26th and a 2003 Honda Recon reported stolen by Lee Ann Fulkerson on April 2nd. Both vehicles were in the possession of 45 year old Lewis W Hankins, who was taken into custody on a charge of possession of stolen property. Hankins was transported to the Saline County Jail, where he was later released on bond.
The case has been forwarded to States Attorney Denton Aud for charges in White County.
