Three men injured in Wayne County accident Wednesday

Illinois State Police District 19 troopers responded to an accident in Wayne County on Wednesday involving an RV that sent three New York men to an area hospital.

According to the preliminary crash report, 74 year old Roger D Crain of Clay, New York was westbound on I-64 near mile post 106 when he lost control of his RV towing an SUV in heavy rain.  The RV left the road and struck several trees before overturning.  Two passengers, 59 year old Peter Mentz and 69 year old Bruce Bresadola were ejected from the vehicle, and all three men were taken to local hospitals for their injuries.

Mentz and Bresadola were both cited for failure to wear a seatbelt, while Crain was cited for driving too fast for conditions and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County Ambulance Service, and the Wayne City Fire Department.
