Stolen truck from Wabash County recovered after three county chase

Dennis,Ashley K 070616Linkon,Mark A 070616Two Walnut Hill residents are jailed in Wabash County after a three county pursuit led to their arrest after a theft victim noticed them driving his stolen truck.

According to a news release from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, the incident on Wednesday began when a Wabash County resident noticed his truck that was reported stolen on June 27 driving north on Highway 1.  The man followed the vehicle and contacted 911.  A Wabash deputy joined the pursuit, which led through Edwards County into Wayne County.

The driver and passenger of the stolen truck, 49 year old Mark A Linkon and 30 year old Ashley K Dennis then called 911 to report the victim trying to get them to pull over.  Dispatch advised that they do, and the two were taken into custody.  Two dogs in the vehicle were handed over to the Wayne County Humane Society.

Linkon and Dennis were transported to the Wabash County Jail, where they remain in custody pending a bond hearing on charges of theft of more than $10,000.  Other charges could be pending as well.

Also involved in the pursuit were officers from the Edwards County Sheriff’s Department, Albion City Police, Illinois State Police, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.
