Special Meeting for Mill Shoals Planned for July 21; Approval for Patch Work, and Dumpster Discussed

A special meeting will be held for the Village of Mill Shoals on July 21 at 6 pm. The meeting will host individuals with the USDA RD and anyone interested in the grant and loan process. This will be an effort to finalize the Village’s water infrastructure rebuild grant process and to establish a timeline for the project’s completed phases.
The board approved spending $2,000 on patch and rock work in Mill Shoals, funded by the Motor Fuel Tax fund. Two quotes were received and agreed upon: $1,015 for road patch work from O’Daniel Trucking, and $726 from Carter Trucking for CA6.
Moving on, Bulldog Services will provide residents in Mill Shoals with a dumpster on July 21; it will remain at that location for either 10 days or until it is full.
Village employees planned to repair a small service line leak on Shrewsbury Road in July. Superintendent Carter stated that the leak was less than 600 gallons for the whole month of June.
Next in new business, the Village has a safety deposit box at the Peoples National Bank in Fairfield. No current board member or Village employee has any idea what is in the deposit box or who has access to it. President Isaacs moved, and it was approved by the board members, that Treasurer James Murphy, Clerk Tullis, Mayor Isaacs, and Trustee Jean Murphy be authorized as key holders to the box. Any names previously on the deposit box were removed.
In old business, the board agreed to fill up all propane tanks with the Wabash Valley Service company’s Summer Fill-Up price of 1.56 per gallon.
Lastly, the WADI Workforce Program reset on July 1. A candidate could work for up to six months within the one-year window. The person must be 16-24 years of age, have never worked for the Village before, and live in one of the seven counties within WADI’s region.
The board adjourned and will meet again at its special board meeting on July 21 at 6 pm.
