SIC To Host Pre-Screenings for Pre-K

Pre-K Screening to be held at SIC April 8

 

HARRISBURG, Ill. (March 7, 2019) — Wabash Ohio Valley Special Education District will be conducting free Pre-Kindergarten screenings on Monday, April 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room B114, with the check-in table located outside of Southeastern Illinois College’s Harry L. Crisp Student Center Cafeteria.

 

These screenings are for all children living within the college district who are ages 3-5 who will not be kindergarten eligible in the fall. SIC’s district includes Saline, Gallatin, Hardin, Pope and much of White counties.  It also includes the southeast corner of Hamilton and the northeast corner of Johnson, as well as small border areas in East Williamson and South Hamilton counties.

 

The screenings take about 45 minutes and include hearing, vision, speech, language and coordination tests.  Head Start personnel will also be available to discuss their program and services. Families should bring a copy of the child’s official birth certificate and copies of the two most recent pay stubs for each parent for the pre-k screening.

 

Appointments for pre-k screenings are required. Call Steffanie Ferrell with the Mary Jo Oldham Center for Child Study, at (618) 252-5400 ext. 3410 or 3411 by Friday, April 5 to make an appointment. Space is limited and appointments will be taken on a first-call basis.
