Southeastern Illinois College held its Student Government Inauguration Ceremony for the 2016-17 academic year on Thursday, Oct. 6.

The club is made of up of 27 members.  Officers elected this year include (pictured l-r) Stephanie Johns, Treasurer from Carmi; Rachel Mace, Secretary from Eldorado; Brooklyn Beckham, Vice-President from Eldorado; Bridget Fitzpatrick, Student Trustee from Eldorado; and Dana Hooven, President from Harrisburg.

The Southeastern Illinois College Student Government is the only recognized representative body for the student community, and it has a number of different functions – from helping fund many student-run organizations to addressing student issues and concerns, to proposing resolutions that brings about change in the academic and social life of campus. The student body elects members of the Student Government. Students interested in serving must complete a petition with one faculty and 25 student signatures. Meetings are held twice each month and are open to anyone interested.
