Businesses, non profits, almost every industry is suffering from a shortage of workers. Law enforcement is in the same boat. In our area, agencies in Grayville, Hamilton County, and both the White County Sheriff’s Department and the Carmi Police Department are accepting applications. Grayville is taking applications for a Chief of Police and a patrol officer. The McLeansboro Police Department is looking for full and part time patrolmen. The White County Sheriff’s Department is seeking applications for full and part time corrections officers as well as part time dispatchers. Starting pay with the Sheriff’s Department in White County is $17.40 per hour. The Carmi PD is also searching for patrol officers.
