School Board Members Day
Thursday, Nov. 15 is the tenth official statewide observance of School Board Members Day in Illinois.
This is an opportunity for the district and community to thank school board members for their commitment in providing a local voice in helping make educational decisions. Board members are tasked with the chore of crafting a vision, mission and goals that reflect the desires expressed by parents and community residents.
School board members serve; not for a paycheck; but instead to protect the community’s tax dollars and help provide a successful path for students.
Brad Lee, Carmi County Unit 5 School Superintendent had high praise for the local school board members.
A great school system is a source of pride to local residents and the leadership provided by the Carmi White County School board directly impacts not only students, it also touches the lives of nearly everyone in the community.
Local residents along with parents of Carmi White County are urged to thank the board for their continued commitment to the local students. The board members ar Kellie M. Chapman, president; Thomas Scates, vice president; Secretary Barbara Mitchell and board members; Andy Acord, Pete Fulkerson, Brent Hammell and Marci Hoskins.
Acord, Hammell, Mitchell and Scates are all up for reelection in the Spring elections.
