Rep. Niemerg Statement on Gov. Pritzker’s New ‘Roadblock’ in Order to Fully Open Up Illinois Now

SPRINGFIELD, IL…State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) made the following statement today in response to Governor JB Pritzker’s announcement that in order to fully re-open Illinois in his own 5 Phase Covid-19 chart. Now, a new requirement of having a majority of people take the vaccination is required for the entire state of Illinois in order to open up and get back to normal.

“The governor keeps changing the rules to fit his own attempt to control the people of Illinois,” said Rep. Adam Niemerg. “The governor calls them metrics but he is not relying on real science but creating more barriers for political purposes.”

According to the Governor, every region of the state is in Phase 4 of his five-phase Restore Illinois mitigation plan, with Phase 5 originally being the goal to reach to open Illinois back up to normal gatherings at restaurants, schools, churches, museums, and large group activities. The newly announced ‘metrics’ are seen as a roadblock and not a bridge to the final phase of this artificial plan.

To advance into the Bridge Phase, the entire state must reach a 70% first dose vaccination rate for residents 65 and over, maintain a 20% or lower ICU bed availability rate and hold steady on COVID-19 and COVID-like illness hospital admissions, mortality rate, and case rate over a 28-day monitoring period. To advance to Phase 5, the state must reach a 50% vaccination rate for residents age 16 and over and meet the same metrics and rates required to enter the transition
phase, over an additional 28-day period.

“It’s gotten to the point that the average person does not understand the complexity and changes to his executive orders. This new requirement is a roadblock and not a bridge,” continued Rep. Niemerg. “I say to the Governor, stop moving the goalpost Governor Pritzker! Open Up Illinois
Now!”

Yes Pretzker needs to quit changing the rules to fit his agenda people are over this and want to get back to normal. It is not mandatory in phase 5 we should be totally open with no damn masks. I can’t stand this POS who is our governor he needs to go with all his damn nonsense rules.

COVID-19 cases are spiking in Europe and in states where people and/or the state government is ignoring CDC advice. New variants of deadlier forms of COVID-19 are appearing across the country and have begun to appear in Illinois. We will not reach herd immunity until 75% of Illinoisans are fully vaccinated. Governor Pritzker’s decision to delay full reopening until 50% of us are vaccinated is wise.

The governor has done a decent job so far keeping cases & deaths down. The goal posts move because this is a fluent & ever changing virus and circumstances change. We are moving in the right direction, help & don’t politicize this “new wrinkle” or “goalpost”.
If we would all have been pulling in the same direction all along, we would be further along…. with fewer deaths & complications!
I don’t see where he has anything to gain by prodding people to get vaccinated, (most people do want the vaccine, except for Republican men) except to save lives!

Republican Representative follows the party line & ignores science & blames democrats because their party throughout the USA has been complicit and responsible for spreading COVID-19. It was never a “democratic hoax.” The world knows! State lines do not stop spread of the virus. What “unreasonable” metrics is the representative talking about & why are they unreasonable? He never says.

You wonder why the USA is the epicenter of cases & deaths – look at the Republicans & Red States’ misinformation, refusal to put public health protections in place, and numerous lies. These virus spreaders could not take even simple medical precautions like mask mandates, social distancing, washing hands, avoiding large groups – all the while LYING about COVID-19.

Woodward has their fearless leader, Trump, on tape before his numerous lies made repeatedly to America. Every Republican representative who remained silent is complicit! If not complicit, then they are idiots who should NOT have been elected.

I would not trust a Republican with my health, voting rights, or democratic freedoms under the US Constitution. It’s a corrupt party that deserves extinction – vote these dinosaurs out!

Public health supersedes his political nonsense. As an educated person with scientific (including lab coursework in pathogenic organisms) & legal background, he presented no reasons supporting his statement that it’s a roadblock NOT a bridge to safe reopening to 100%.

Americans remember over 1/2 million died in a year, Republican response to a pandemic was nonexistent, & the figure of deaths doesn’t include all the long haul cases which are not included in statistics. Experts, unlike this representative, warn about opening too early because of variants with unknown effects & the surge in European nations. Caution is warranted – we don’t want to regress.

Funny, in an ironic sense, is that recent polls show 50% of Republican men won’t vaccinate, as is their right. Anti-Vaxers are no different than flat earthers. But, you don’t reward their stupidity that infects others. Epidemiology not politics should control public health.

If we had competent leadership unlike the Republican Party that has embraced fascism and lies, our country would not be in this situation. Thank God, we have a competent Democratic President who reversed the course of COVID-19 by vaccinations and aid to the country. Not one REPUBLICAN voted for the Stimulus for political reasons wanting America to FAIL, while all voted for a $1.9 Trillion dollar tax cut benefiting the top 1% and corporations.

Republicans priorities are power to stay in office not people – how else do you explain their Voter Suppression Bills in Red States! No election fraud – Trump & Republicans BIG LIE – lost 60 lawsuits. Now, they use it to suppress voting rights over non-existent fraud. The only fraud is Republicans can’t win a fair election so prevent people from voting.

Republicans are the party that ignore Trump incited an attempted coup – they refuse to call it an insurrection. GOP Senators violated their oath TWICE in voting “not guilty.” The evidence was overwhelming! In 1776, they hung traitors, in the Republican Party they honor & make excuses for them. Let the indictments proceed, learn the truth, & convict the guilty.

The Republican Party is the New Nazi Party having embraced fascism. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

I’m for Gov Pritzker being cautious. We don’t need a spike in cases by opening too soon or
Lifting the mandate on mask wearing. Once we get more people vaccinated then it will be ok to open up more, but I would discourage it at this time.

All of this has been and will be done the protect and save lives, and it is based on science and CDC recommendations. If everyone around here would get on board, wear masks, social distance and get vaccinated, this state would open back up. But most fools around here would rather fight it than try to move forward in a positive way.
