Registration now open for Southern Illinois Volunteerism Conference

The Southern Illinois Volunteerism Conference (SIVC) will be held on April 6, 2017 at the recently remodeled Holiday Inn in Mt. Vernon, IL. The conference runs from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM and includes light morning refreshments, lunch, and an exhibit hall. Early Bird registration fee for the conference is only $35 (register by 3/30/17).

Those who recruit, train or manage volunteers and people who love volunteering should not miss this opportunity to learn from the experts in the field. This conference offers workshops on a wide variety of areas related to volunteerism.

The featured speaker for this year’s conference is John Shadowens, MPA – President and CEO of United Methodist Children’s Home, Mt. Vernon, IL. John, a published author and former radio host, has spent 29 years in regional leadership for expanding youth work throughout Southern Illinois. He is also an experienced trainer for the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets Framework, Bridges Out of Poverty and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

A Certificate of Completion with instructional hours will be provided to all participants at the conclusion of the conference. Workshops and training conducted at this conference may also be used to meet the requirements for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) Recertification.

The Southern Illinois Volunteerism Conference (SIVC) has existed for over 17 years in various forms to provide capacity-building training opportunities to enhance the skills of volunteer leaders and managers in the public, private, and particularly nonprofit sectors and to provide professional development workshops for volunteers themselves.
