Raptor Awareness

Raptor Awareness

BENTON, IL – On Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake proudly presents St. Louis’ World Bird Sanctuary and its live birds of prey. Join us for “Raptor Awareness” as we discover more about these birds of prey; how we can protect them; and gaze at raptors in flight as they soar just overhead during the program. Please come early to get a good seat, as there is limited seating for each program. Soar on down to the Rend Lake Project Office/Visitor Center for an afternoon of unforgettable summer memories.
The Environmental Science Series will continue Saturday, July 6th at 9:30 PM with the annual Rend Lake Fireworks Festival. Visit us at the Spillway Event Area for an evening of fireworks, food, and fun as we come together for a night to remember at Rend Lake. Gates open at 4:00 PM. A $5.00 donation per vehicle is requested to help pay for next year’s fireworks. Bring your friends and family as we light up the night sky over the lake but leave your personal fireworks and speakers at home please. For more information about Rend Lake’s Environmental Science Series, please contact the Rend Lake Project Office/Visitor’s Center at 618-724-2493 or “like” our Facebook page at facebook.com/rendlakeusace.
