21-year-old Jacob Lewis is behind bars following his arrest Thursday morning. Law enforcement was called to rural Burnt Prairie in reference to a criminal damage complaint. On scene, the law official spoke with Roger Green who said that around 11:40pm Wednesday, he lost power and when that happened, he heard a very loud vehicle pass by his resident. The next morning, Green says when he was leaving for work, he noticed his pole barn severely damaged and tire tracks through his yard. Additionally, the vehicle allegedly hit a guide wire on the electric pole in his yard. A neighbor advised she saw the vehicle around the same time and that it appeared to nearly be “broken in half”. Later, law enforcement would track down the vehicle on County Road 1925 North near County Road 1950 and initiated a traffic stop. While conferring with the driver, Lewis, the officer reportedly asked him why he’d ran through a pole barn and left the scene. Lewis then allegedly said he shouldn’t have done that and he wanted to make it right.
Lewis is behind bars on charges of Criminal Damage to Property ($10k to $100k), Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage, Driving with a Revoked License, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Operation of a Motor Vehicle without Proper Registration.
