Niemerg Explains Emotions of Inaugural day in Springfield and Time for the Governor to Open up the Entire State to Indoor Dining

What is it like for a newly sworn-in State Representative to seen their name up on the voting board for the first time?   109th District State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) can tell you.  Niemerg took the oath of office in ceremonies in Springfield this week.  In the attached audio he explains his emotions of the day.

Governor JB Pritzker Friday announced the easing of restrictions in three Illinois regions.   The three regions have moved into Tier two, based on metrics including hospitalizations and a positivity rate of less than 12% for several consecutive days.

Region 1, including counties in Northern Illinois, Region 2 including counties in North Central Illinois , and Region 5 including counties in Southern Illinois, have met the criteria to move to less restricted gatherings and business operations.   However, newly sworn-in 109th District State Representative Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) said today, it is time for the governor to open indoor dining across the entire state of Illinois.

A recent survey from the Illinois Restaurant Association reveals 20% of owners say they will go out of business in several months if a partial reopening doesn’t happen soon. That represents 120,000 employees statewide.  A statement from the IRA said while every step towards reopening is helpful, Friday’s announcement falls short of the industry’s critical and immediate needs.

Niemerg also said it is time for the governor to allow kids in Illinois to play sports again instead of having to travel across state lines to do so.
