Mill Shoals Still Seeking Grants for Water Project

The Mill Shoals board members discussed the USDA Rural Development funding application for the Municipal Water Project. Mill Shoals was awarded $3,000,000 in congressional direct spending, and the White County Board provided $50,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Energy Transition Community Grant. However, the estimated cost of the project is $6,241,639. So Mill Shoals needs to come up with $3,191,639.

During the discussion, the board reaffirmed its commitment to securing additional funding for water infrastructure. They agreed to continue pursuing opportunities from the Delta Regional Authority, with the valuable assistance of the Adeline Development Group.

An update regarding a police car for Mill Shoals: the mayor of Enfield has contacted board members about fulfilling a previous police contract. The board agreed to bring the contract back with Enfield, but they will need to amend a portion of the agreement due to the changing dates.

Village President Tim Isaacs and the board, showing their compassion, voted to continue having Wayne Carter as the Village’s licensed Water Operator until November 1, 2027. The board also agreed to waive a water bill for Ed Titzer, who was severely injured in an auto accident and is currently in the hospital.

Residents in Mill Shoals will see City of Fairfield employees driving through the Village as they begin spraying for mosquitoes one night a week, which will cost $165 per week.

In New Business, Trustee Martin, who is an electrician by trade, fixed the lift station. No problems have arisen.

Village Sewer Operator Bobby Brown raised the fee from $450 to $650 a month, which ILEPA has mandated.

Members are hoping that November 10 will be the town-wide pick-up; they have to confirm with Bulldog Services.

Lastly, Clerk Tullis will arranged to have materials on hand to fix the bathroom ceiling at the Village Hall, with help from Leo Nevins.
