A few local communities and a college are going to be making improvements thanks to a portion of $3.1 Million acquired through the Delta Regional Authority’s efforts. The money is through the DRA’s collaboration with the state of Illinois’ Economic Development Assistance Program. The grants are aimed at improving basic public infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, business development and job training. This year, a dozen projects were selected in southern Illinois.
Among them, Southeastern Illinois College was awarded nearly $100,000 to purchase equipment and software for its Nursing and Allied Health Simulation Laboratory, updating it to industry standards and to better prepare students for entry into the workforce.
The Village of Mill Shoals was awarded $509,000 to update an aging water system and improve reliability for households while laying the foundation to attract and retain new businesses, expand local services, and strengthen overall resilience in the community.
The Village of Crossville will get $509,000 as well to repair water main infrastructure necessary to provide residents and businesses in the eastern portion of the village with a reliable, efficient water system.
